EEW Special Pipe Constructions has shipped the final monopiles for RWE’s Sofia offshore wind farm. The last three foundations were loaded at the company’s Rostock quay on 15 June using its own SPMTs and the RoRo method. All 100 monopiles, each weighing between 1143 and 1521 tonnes and measuring up to 91.8 metres in length, have now left the fabrication site. EEW said the operation was completed without incident. So far, 90 monopiles have been transported to the North Sea and installed by Van Oord using the jack-up vessel Aeolus. Sofia is scheduled to enter operation in 2026. It will supply electricity to around 1.2 million UK homes once fully commissioned, according to RWE.2025-05-20 • projectcargojournal.com
